TaskRank / Roundups
Roundup · pricing read 2026-10-16Best vibe coding tools
Vibe coding means describing the app you want and letting an AI build it. Four tools own this space right now, plus two coding agents for when you're ready to look under the hood. These are editorial picks, not test results, and the order is our opinion. There are no scores here, because we haven't run our task set on them.
Our call: Lovable if you've never coded, Bolt if you want to see exactly what you're paying for, v0 if you'll deploy on Vercel, and Replit if you want room to grow. Prices come from each official pricing page, read 2026-10-16.
| Tool | What it is | Free tier and pricing (official page, 2026-10-16) |
|---|---|---|
| Lovable | Chat-to-app builder for people who don't code | Free plan: 5 build credits a day (up to 30 a month) plus 20 Cloud credits a month. Paid plan prices weren't shown on the page we read: not verified. |
| Bolt | Browser-based full-stack builder | Free: 300K tokens a day, 1M a month, with Bolt branding. Pro $25/month. Teams $30/member/month. |
| v0 by Vercel | UI and app generation that deploys to Vercel | Free: 7 messages a day. A paid tier at $30/user/month with $30 of monthly credits. Business $100/user/month. |
| Replit | Cloud IDE with an agent, hosting and databases | Plans at $20/month ($18 billed annually) and $100/month ($90 billed annually), with credits toward models. Plan names weren't clear on the page we read. |
| Codex / Claude Code | Coding agents for people who can read code | Codex has a free tier inside ChatGPT. Claude Code starts with Claude Pro at $20. See is Claude Code free. |
Lovable
The friendliest place to start if you've never written code. Credits are measured per message, and the pricing page gives examples from 0.5 to 1.7 credits.
Bolt
Most transparent pricing in the group. Watch token burn on bigger projects: Bolt says most usage comes from syncing your project files to the AI.
v0 by Vercel
Best if you'll ship on Vercel or want React/Next.js code you can take over. The 7-a-day free cap is tight.
Replit
The most 'real dev environment' of the builders, so you can grow into actual code.
Codex / Claude Code
Not vibe coding in the no-code sense, but the step up once you outgrow the builders. Compare them in Codex vs Claude Code.
What we'd test
The plan is the same three briefs in every builder: a booking page with a form that emails you, a small CRUD app with login, and a change request to an existing app ("add a dark mode"). We'd record credits or tokens spent, whether the result deployed without manual fixes, and whether you can export the code. That hasn't been run yet. When it is, this page gets scores.
Gotchas everyone hits
- Usage meters differ: Lovable uses credits, Bolt uses tokens, and v0 uses dollars of credits. Compare them on a real project, not on the price tag.
- Free tiers are built to let you try the tool, not to ship on.
- Check code export and ownership before you build anything you'll keep. Lovable's page says you own your code.
